Public transport
Fortem has invested heavily in public transportation and encourages everyone to make use of it. The network is extensive and covers the whole country.
The major cities like Milan have an underground transport system, similar to the MRT in Singapore or London Underground. There have multiple lines that cover different parts of a city.
There is one train system in Fortem that operates local and IR (Inter-Region) connections as well as IC (Inter Country) trains linking Fortem to its neighbors. The longer connections use bullet train as in Japan.
Each canton operates its own bus system linking towns and villages. There are also bus services that link neighboring cantons,
In general public transport is relatively inexpensive unless you take the IC bullet train. Also, since the underground transport is still quite new, only 25 years old, it is very expensive compared to the bus. There are many rules for taking the underground transport, to try and keep it as safe and clean as possible.
